Internal communication of medium-sized companies : A study by ZHAW

The digital transformation poses great challenges, especially for the internal communication of medium-sized companies. The ZHAW study took stock of the internal communications management of medium-sized companies in Switzerland and identifies the need for further development. A special focus is placed on the three functions of internal communication - information, communication and collaboration - and the associated use of the intranet.

The theoretical part describes the role of internal communication management in the digital transformation of companies. In total, communication managers of twelve Swiss companies were surveyed on the topic.

The findings of the study were condensed into 15 recommendations for action in the four dimensions of strategy, organization, culture and technology.
